About DSW

Garage Willy is manufacturer of its own designed motorised paraglider trikes, i.e. aircrafts allowing to fly (alone or with one passenger), propelled by a motor unit and controlled by a parachute. Such parachutes with propeller are shortly named "paramotors". They take off from the ground like a normal airplane. That's possible as soon the parachute, functioning like a wing on other airplanes, is inflated through a forward movement. Actually there are no special laws to fly with paramotors. Garage Willy developed three specific types of ready-to-fly DSW paramotors, existing as mono and duo aircrafts. Contrary to other manufacturers Garage Willy gives the buyers FREE FLYING LESSONS, allowing them to save easily € 1,000 or more. All WDS paramotors are equipped with a 35 kg Rotax 503 motor of 58HP, making 7,800 revs/min. As parachute they use the famous Subara, with a surface from 35 m² to 45 m². Weight of a ready-to-fly DSW paramotor is around 110 kg. Price of a complete DSW paramotor oscillates between € 10,000 and €15,000, depending upon the used pieces. They can be delivered from stock.

For the moment there are no concrete laws governing the use of paramotors. In principle one can take off at any place and land at any place as long as one avoids military constructions. There exists no official flying licence, although paramotor federations are trying to obtain a clear regulation of the new sport. Although there exists no specific laws for paramotor flying, an insurance is obliged. Premium for monoflights is around € 100 per year and around € 500 for duo-flights. Most companies work with an exemption of € 250 per accident. Coverage is up to € 625,000 plus € 125,000 per passengers. Coverage concerns training, events and competition, and up from the moment the harness is strapped until the moment the pilot and his passenger step out the trike.
